Letter from the Director

Dear Students and Parents,

I am very excited to introduce you to iQ Academy Kansas, a tuition-free online middle and high school of the Manhattan-Ogden School District.

iQ Academy Kansas is a complete online school for grades 7-12 that fits your student, your family and your life. At iQ Academy, our number one priority is delivering a high-quality, individualized education that prepares you for life beyond high school. We accomplish this by offering a total learning package which includes standards-based curriculum, an innovative virtual learning environment, and a support system involving teachers, a school counselor, and staff who are personally committed to helping you realize your greatest academic potential.

What’s even more exciting is an option for students to be part of the iQ Academy Kansas STEM+ Initiative coming in the 2012-2013 school year. The iQ Academy STEM+ Initiative provides students with a comprehensive education that focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, PLUS more (the arts) as we work together to prepare students for 21st Century Careers.

Did you know that Kansas will need to fill 80,000 STEM related jobs by 2013, all in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math¹? The U.S. Department of Labor predicts that jobs requiring science, engineering, and technical training will increase 24% between 2008 and 2018². What does this mean for education?

The iQ Academy Kansas team has geared up to help answer that question with our students. We are ready to ignite students’ enthusiasm in STEM+, help them connect to learning, transfer new knowledge to real world applications, and prepare students for 21st century schools and careers.

Features of our school and STEM+ Initiative include:

  • An award-winning, standards-based curriculum for grades 7-12
  • Over 120 courses including core, STEM+, elective, AP® and world languages
  • Online classroom instruction and personalized support from Kansas licensed teachers
  • Cross-curricular projects with integrated learning
  • Academic outings to connect learning and the real world
  • Application, collaboration, and transfer of information and skills
  • Flexibility to study when and where you want
  • Use of a computer while enrolled full time in the program
  • Five-year track record serving over 400 students
  • Tuition-free, public education for Kansas residents

iQ Academy Kansas is an ideal fit for any student seeking more choice, more learning, and more STEM+ in their middle or high school education. Please plan to attend one of our open house events where you can meet personally with iQ faculty, students and parents to learn more. Please feel free to contact me via email or phone with any questions you may have about how iQ Academy Kansas can provide the perfect fit for you.
